The story behind Dark Stalkers from a fan's perspective.

Dark Stalkers: The Night Warriors (US)/Vampire: The Night Warriors (JP)

Dark Stalkers was first released in arcades in 1994. The game was released for the original PlayStation (PSX) in 1996. I currently own the original PSX game which hides a small secret...
If you place the PSX black disk into your computer's cd/DVD drive, you can actually rip or listen to the game's soundtrack.

Dark Stalkers (Dark Stalkers: The Animated Series) <1995>

Oi vey is my personal opinion of the cartoon series that aired here in the U.S. The series lasted for one season and thankfully was not renewed. The story centered around a haphazard young boy fighting against Morrigan, Demitri, and Pyron.

Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge (US)/Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers' Revenge (JP)

In 1996, Night Warriors Revenge: Dark Stalkers came out for the now gone Sega Saturn. This game added a new story line adding two new characters Donovan Baine and the mysterious little girl, Anita and Hisen-Ko. Both characters would have separate roles in the game.

Dark Stalkers 3 (US)/ Vampire Savior: The Lord of the Vampire (JP)

The new characters and the old characters would also make their return on the biggest Dark Stalkers yet.

Enix Comics released the Japanese manga of Vampire Savior (Dark Stalkers 3).

Vampire Hunter 2 and Vampire Savior 2 (Arcades)

I have played these two games and found out that they were updates to Vampire Savior. I noticed that Vampire Hunter 2 omitted certain characters and the main boss character being Pyron while Vampire Savior 2 included B.B. Hood, Q-Bee, J. Talbain (Gallon,) Donovan Baine, and Jedah Dohma being the main boss character. There were two other hidden characters called Shadow and Marionette.

Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service (JP) (Sega Dreamcast only-2000)

Vampire Chronicle was released in Japan only for the Dreamcast.

Vampire: Dark Stalkers Collection (PS2 Version-Japan Only)/
Dark Stalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PSP) <2004>

The original collection was a Japan-only release for the PS2. This collection is comprised of all the Darkstalkers arcade games and introduces a new character named Dee and has his own story line. I personally do not own the collection; however, I do own Dark Stalkers Chronicle digitally for the PSP. The Chaos Tower has a Tower mode which gets progressively harder as you ascend it.

Dark Stalkers Resurrection (US)/ Vampire Resurrection (Japan)

Dark Stalkers Resurrection was released on March 13, 2013, on the PS3 (PlayStation Network) and the Xbox 360 (Xbox Live). It is a compilation of both Night Warriors: Dark Stalkers Revenge which was released in 1995 and Dark Stalkers 3 which was released in 1998. The game included online matchmaking between the two games but for Dark Stalkers 3 did not contain the special content that the PSX version had. The game for fans did well; however, the game was considered a failure in the eyes of the developer.
